Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs opens today. I saw it earlier this week and was blown away. I am always impressed when I can see the filmmaker’s thumbprint on the final picture.
In designing the characters, we envisioned the simplicity of Miroslav Sasek’s illustrations combined with the charm of the Muppets. We were constantly trying to simplify our shapes, and exaggerate the expression. The animators on the film did an amazing job of maintaining this style throughout the film. Here are some character designs.

I've been helping some friends start an animation studio in Pune, India. We are beginning to pitch our first production, Doubtsourcing. It’s a 2D animated sitcom about global collaboration, or the lack thereof, centered on a dysfunctional IT company in Bangalore, India. Even though most of the characters are Indian, the show is written for Americans. I've had a blast working with the talented crew. Check out the site http://www.badmash.tv/.

These were done for the "Out of Character" art show on the DreamWorks Animation campus. It's personal artwork by DWA Character Designers. Should be some amazing work by Nico Marlet, Devin Crane, Andy Bialk, Tony Siruno, Patrick Mate, Shane Prigmore, Shannon Tindle, and myself. Not sure if it's open to the public, but if you know someone who works here stop by and check it out.
